Family medicine is the branch of medicine that deals with providing comprehensive health care for the whole family. Family medicine doctors are consultants for ailments across specialisation for patients belonging to all ages and genders, and provide care for multiple generations simultaneously.  They offer a wide range of services, including preventive care, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, and management of chronic conditions, they are not restricted to provide care for particular ailment but for milder diseases effecting the whole body. In most cases a family physician is associated with all member of the family for a long time even at times for life.  Family physician’s factor in a patient’s lifestyle, socio-economic background, and occupational background when making diagnoses and treatment plans.
